How would you describe Samsung Electronics and its role in theatrical exhibition?

Samsung Electronics is a multinational consumer-electronics and technology company. We manufacture a wide range of products and have leveraged our experience to design and develop the world’s first DCI-certified cinema LED screen.  We work closely and collaboratively with our Cinema Dealer Partners to bring the highest quality viewing experience to theatres.  Onyx is a premium format for exhibition that can support HDR-1 content.

What’s new at your company this year?

One of Samsung’s key highlights is the continued expansion of Samsung Onyx, our Cinema LED display built for theatrical exhibition. Onyx delivers true blacks and HDR picture quality, helping theatres create a premium moviegoing experience in next-generation auditoriums such as Georgia Theatre Company’s Trilith Cinemas in Fayetteville, GA and Roadhouse Cinemas in Scottsdale AZ.

What recent innovations or projects are you most excited for?

Samsung Electronics America, through our dealer partner CINEUNION delivered an enhanced moviegoing experience at Trilith Cinemas, operated by Georgia Theatre Company and most recently Roadhouse Cinemas Scottsdale. They are the first U.S. theatres to feature the latest Samsung Onyx (ICD model) cinema LED screen, combining advanced display technology, elevated hospitality and immersive large-format auditoriums to create a next-generation destination for film entertainment.

What industry trends are shaping your work right now?

The industry has been focused on delivering a more premium, high-quality moviegoing experience that reinforces to audiences that theatres are the best way to experience movies. Samsung is supporting this shift through display technologies such as Cinema LED and advanced digital signage that enhance picture quality, presentation and the overall in-theater experience.

How is your company helping cinema operators evolve?

With a global presence and a widely recognized consumer electronics brand, Samsung works with cinema operators to introduce new display technologies and modernize presentation environments. By bringing display expertise into the theater space, we help exhibitors adopt new formats and enhance how audiences experience content on the big screen.

How long have you participated in CinemaCon, and what keeps you coming back?

Samsung has participated in CinemaCon since 2016, we continue to return because CinemaCon is one of the most influential global gatherings of leaders in the cinema industry, bringing together exhibitors, studios and partners to explore new technologies and the future of theatrical exhibition.
